Travel Survey of Honeymooners

Travel Survey of Honeymooners

Three large surveys of honeymoon travelers have revealed some surprising statistics about modern honeymoon travel. For one thing, exotic destinations have become less popular during the recession. 30% of North American couples surveyed had decided to stay close to home in 2010, restricting their travel to the US and Canada.

Orlando was the top destination among those who decided to stay in North America, with Las Vegas being a close second. Hawaii was also a top destination for those who booked via travel agents. Younger travelers were also the most cautious in their choice of destination, mainly choosing to stay in developed countries like the US, France, Spain and the UK. The surveys also showed that vacation time is shrinking, with the average honeymoon lasting between 5 to 8 days on average.
