Caribbean Islands Promote Honeymoon Travel

The Caribbean islands of Antigua and Barbuda are focusing on promoting wedding-related travel and tourism by encouraging weddings, bachelor parties and honeymoons on the islands. The tourism campaign is being promoted as the "Month of Romance", and includes a package designed to attract engaged couples. The goal is to promote Antigua and Barbuda across the world as a premier destination for couples and honeymoon travel.
Local officials see this type of tourism as a major generator or revenue for the country going forward, especially due to the royal wedding and honeymoon of Britain's Prince William and Kate at the end of April. They are hoping that this will lead to an increase in wedding travel as other couples around the world are inspired by the royal wedding. The island tourism department has been in touch with travel agencies, vendors and suppliers of products and services to promote the new mode of tourism.
